Tubular vs. Flat Plate Technologies
For residential and retail power backup systems in Nagpur, lead-acid deep-cycle batteries are the industry standard. They come in two primary configurations:
- Tubular Batteries (Recommended): Feature tubular positive plates which hold active material securely, providing a higher cycle life (typically 1200+ cycles at 80% Depth of Discharge). Best for areas in Nagpur experiencing regular or long power cuts.
- Flat Plate Batteries: Use standard flat lead plates. They charge faster and are cheaper upfront, but have a shorter cycle life. Suitable for urban apartments with rare, short power outages.

Connected Appliance Sizing Guide (150 Ah)
| Connected Load (Watts) | Common Appliance Setups | Approx. Backup Time |
|---|---|---|
| 150 W | 2 LED Tubes + 1 Ceiling Fan + 1 Wi-Fi Router | 8 to 9 Hours |
| 300 W | 4 LED Tubes + 2 Ceiling Fans + 1 TV | 4 to 5 Hours |
| 500 W | 6 LED Tubes + 3 Ceiling Fans + 1 TV + 1 Laptop | 2.5 to 3 Hours |
| 800 W | All lights/fans + 1 Small Refrigerator | 1.5 Hours |
Note: Actual backup times may vary based on the efficiency of your inverter unit and battery state of health.
Inverter Battery Maintenance Checklist
- Check Acid Levels: Check the water float indicators every 3 months. Top up only with distilled water when the indicator drops below the green level.
- Clean Corroded Contacts: Clean any sulphate buildup on battery leads with hot water to prevent resistance and heating.
- Maintain Ventilation: Keep the battery placed in a well-ventilated open area. Tubular batteries emit minor gases during active charging.
