Why a three-wheeler battery works harder
A private car might be started three or four times a day. A passenger auto is started dozens of times a shift, idles between fares, on roads that shake the plates. On paper a starter battery; in practice closer to deep-cycle work.
Start count, not kilometres
Every start pulls a heavy current spike, and short hops never give the alternator long enough to replace it.
Idling instead of charging
At idle the alternator turns slowly. An auto queuing with headlamp, indicators and music can draw more than it generates.
Vibration on rough roads
Vibration loosens terminals and sheds active material. A loose hold-down clamp kills a good battery faster than any electrical fault.
Conversions and accessories
A CNG or LPG kit adds a solenoid and electronics, on top of extra lamps, a fare meter and music. None of it is in the original specification.
Company fitment versus aftermarket
The battery in a new auto was not chosen for you. It was chosen to a build cost and a warranty period: the smallest capacity that can be signed off, chosen against a cost and warranty target rather than against a working day of a dozen restarts.
On three-wheelers the tray and terminal layout usually fix the capacity, so the chart gives one AH group per vehicle and a step up is only possible where the tray genuinely allows it. The real choice is build and warranty. BLACK is the heavy-duty commercial line and carries 18 months free replacement; FRESH is the entry-level maintenance-free line at 12 months. Ask us which variant of the part number you are being quoted — a good number of BLACK parts carry an MF suffix and are sealed, while others have removable vents and want a water check.
| Consideration | Company fitment | Aftermarket upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Chosen for | Build cost and warranty period | Your duty cycle |
| Typical build | Minimum capacity signed off at build | Heavy-duty or sealed |
| Capacity | Exactly as specified | Same AH group in almost every case; a step up only where the tray allows |
| Water top-ups | Needed, often neglected | Needed on BLACK, none on FRESH |
| Warranty route | Vehicle dealership | Maker's card, claimed through us |
| Upfront cost | Lower | Higher |
| Downtime risk | Higher once the auto earns | Lower; replace on your schedule |
| Best when | Leased, financed or being sold | Owned auto in daily service |
When the company specification is still right
Three cases. A leased or financed auto with a maintenance condition, where deviating can cost the claim. One you are selling within months. And any auto where the tray leaves no room. Our fitment check confirms it.
Three-wheeler fitment reference
From the Amaron application chart. Where two options are listed, both fit. R means the positive terminal sits on the right, L on the left.

What downtime costs an operator
An auto that will not start at seven in the morning costs you the shift, and the rental or EMI goes out regardless.
Treat it as a scheduled part. Get a free load test once it passes eighteen months and change it on an afternoon of your choosing, not on the roadside. We fit at your stand, and emergency support starts at 6:00 AM.
Fleet and bulk supply
Replacing a group of autos one panic at a time is the worst way to do it. Fleet and bulk pricing is quoted on request.
- Send a vehicle list. Make, model, fuel and quantity; photographs of the labels confirm terminal side without visiting each auto.
- We map part numbers and confirm stock. Where two series fit we set out both, so you weigh warranty against maintenance fleet-wide.
- Batch replacement, scheduled. Fitted in groups so your autos are never all off the road at once, at your yard in Hingna MIDC, Butibori or Kalamna.
- Old batteries taken in exchange. We take the used ones back and dispose of them properly.
- Consolidated GST invoice. One bill, warranty cards per battery, serials against vehicle numbers.
E-rickshaw batteries are a different product
Everything above concerns starter batteries on engine-driven three-wheelers. An e-rickshaw has no starter to crank; it runs a traction set of deep-cycle blocks in series, sized for range and for being flattened and refilled daily. A starter battery will not survive that, and a traction block is wrong in a CNG auto. They are deep-cycle traction sets sized in volts and amp-hours for range, not for cranking, and they are charged and replaced as a matched set rather than one battery at a time. Fitting a starter battery to an e-rickshaw, or a traction set to an engine-driven auto, will ruin both. Tell us the vehicle and the existing set-up and we will quote the correct configuration.
Maintenance for three-wheeler duty
Three habits account for most of the difference between an auto battery that reaches its warranty and one that does not.
Water level, if your battery has vent caps
Sealed maintenance-free batteries, including anything with an MF part number, must never be opened. If yours has removable vent caps, check every four to six weeks and monthly through a Nagpur summer, topping up to the mark with distilled water only. Exposed plates are ruined and dry-out is not covered.
Terminals and hold-down
Check clamp tightness and the hold-down at every service, clean off white or green powder, apply petroleum jelly. A loose terminal arcs and eats itself.
Charging output
The one people skip. A weak alternator, slipping belt or corroded earth strap is the usual reason an auto battery dies inside a year, and a new battery on a bad charging system dies too. See alternator repair and the checklist.
Auto rickshaw battery questions
How long does an auto rickshaw battery last?
Less than a car battery here; the duty is harder. Eighteen months to two and a half years is realistic in commercial service. One that dies inside a year usually has a weak alternator behind it.
Which battery is best for a CNG auto rickshaw?
Start from the application chart, not the brand. A CNG Bajaj RE takes FR300RMF at 32 AH, a CNG Piaggio APE FR400RMF at 35 AH, a 60 AH carrier BL600R or FR650RMF. BLACK carries the longer warranty but wants water top-ups; FRESH is sealed.
Should I fit the same battery the company fitted?
Match the AH group, case size and terminal side, but you need not repeat the exact unit; the factory chose to a build cost, not your earning schedule. Stay original if the auto is leased, about to be sold, or the tray is tight.
Do you supply batteries for a whole fleet of autos?
Yes. Send a vehicle list with make, model, fuel and quantity. We confirm the part number for each, hold stock and replace in batches so your autos are not off the road together. Fleet and bulk pricing is quoted against your vehicle list.
What battery does a Bajaj RE take?
The RE family, including RE16, RE600, RE 4S CNG and LPG, RE Diesel, RE GDI, RE compact and Maxima, sits in the 32 AH group. The recommendation is FR300RMF in the Amaron FRESH series, 12 months free.
Can you fit the battery at my stand instead of the shop?
Yes. Doorstep fitting across Nagpur covers your stand, garage or yard, with a load test before and after, terminal cleaning and safe removal of the old battery. Emergency support starts at 6:00 AM.
Figures come from the manufacturer's application chart, subject to your warranty card. See the Amaron range, buying guide, FAQs and about us.
